“In my 4 1/2 years of marriage, my husband has spent 3 of those years in the Middle East. I have seen a 20-year-old boy with no legs trying to see the benefits of his new wheelchair. I've shared stories with many other spouses about what kind of anti-depressant and anti-anxiety meds they're on. I've seen the chaplain and soldier in dress greens drive around my neighborhood, waiting for a wife to come home so they can tell her her husband is dead. I have seen marriages ruined over the many many stresses of this army life. We need to get out of this never-ending, Iraq war before it wrecks anymore lives.”
“I work at the VA hospital as a chaplain and I have over the past 5 years visited with and prayed with and for these young men and women and their families. They come back physically, mentally and spiritually wounded. They are our future generation, but PTSD can hold them hostage for the rest of their lives. Please bring the rest back as soon as possible.”
“I would like my sister and her family to be okay, to be able to stop suffering, stop living in a war zone and get on with living their lives in a peaceful way. My sister has four children and no husband (he died in the war). One of her children is special needs and I know that her everyday life is a struggle. She is well educated, a professor of English at the university. I have never met my sister, but we stay in touch by letter and email. My sister lives in Basra, Iraq. I live in Redondo Beach, California.”
“With our economy destroyed, the last thing we need to be throwing money at is a futile war.”
“It has been 1 and 1/2 years since my grandson was killed in Iraq by a 400-pound culvert bomb. Every day these young men take their chances and drive the same stretch of road. Every day.”
